Emergent MIND Change

Posted by susanb99 on April 25, 2008

From Herescope:

“A new world, as the mystics have always said, is a new mind.”
-Marilyn Ferguson, The Aquarian Conspiracy:Personal and Social Transformation in the 1980s
(J.P. Tarcher, 1980), p. 36 [emphasis added]
“The mystery of the creative/intuitive mind is underscored in the ‘perennial wisdom‘, which finds the deep intuition connected to the one Universal Mind. Thus there are indeed no limits to its capabilities save those the individual creates as part of the resistance to discovering one’s godlike qualities. Furthermore, because of this connection to the All, problem solutions, which come from the deep intuition will be solutions that benefit all, not one at the expense of others.”

– Willis Harman, Global Mind Change: The New Age Revolution in the Way We Think
(Warner Books, 1988), p. 88 [emphasis added]

Dr. Dennis Cuddy, in his bi-weekly NewsWithViews column on April 7 made a startling observation. Cuddy, an historian and author with expertise in the mental health arena, noticed that there were similarities in Brian McLaren‘s new book everything must change: Jesus, Global Crises, and a Revolution of Hope and Eckhart Tolle‘s new book touted by Oprah’s Book Club, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose. Both authors define mental illness in terms of wrong belief systems which are harming the planet:

McLaren in his book continued to explain that this failed Christian religion’s threats of hell “lose their effect when those making the threats seem a little defensive, deranged, out of touch, manic…..” Note that he’s saying they are mentally ill! This is similar to New Ager Marilyn Ferguson in THE AQUARIAN CONSPIRACY: PERSONAL AND SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION IN THE 1980s (1980) saying that if people will get rid of “crippling belief systems,” they can have a “transformation of consciousness” and find “sanity within.” More recently, it sounds like Eckhart Tolle’s A NEW EARTH: AWAKENING TO YOUR LIFE’S PURPOSE (2005) promoted by Oprah’s Book Club. He asserts that all of those expressing the certainty that “I am right and you are wrong” are a “dangerous thing in religions.” It reflects a “collective mental illness.” Tolle characterizes “sin” as simply “missing the point” of human existence and suggests that “Eastern wisdom teachings” allow us to “let go of dogmas” and “rigid belief systems.” He also relates that in THE HOLY BIBLE “a new heaven” actually refers to “the emergence of a transformed state of human consciousness.” Note again the terms “mental illness” and “transformed.” (“Transformation by Crises and Synthesis”)

Indeed the two books do bear a basic similarity in their underlying premise that man’s belief systems (i.e., particularly orthodox Christian theology) are deranged and need to undergo a basic “shift” that will result in “transformation” necessary for the survival of the planet.

Channeling God

Posted by susanb99 on April 14, 2008

Channeling – the practice of professedly entering a meditative or trancelike state in order to convey messages from a spiritual guide. (dictionary.com)

There are many examples today of channeling. A Course in Miracles was “scribed” by Dr. Helen Schucman through a process of inner dictation she identified as coming from Jesus. Over a period of seven years, Dr. Schucman transcribed these thoughts into the curriculum which is now being promoted by Marianne Williamson and Oprah Winfrey among others. Included in the course are these teachings:

  • “There is no sin. . . “9
  • A “slain Christ has no meaning.”10
  • “The journey to the cross should be the last ‘useless journey.’”11
  • “Do not make the pathetic error of ‘clinging to the old rugged cross.’”12
  • “The Name of Jesus Christ as such is but a symbol. . . . It is a symbol that is safely used as a replacement for the many names of all the gods to which you pray.”13
  • “God is in everything I see.”14
  • “The recognition of God is the recognition of yourself.”15
  • “The oneness of the Creator and the creation is your wholeness, your sanity and your limitless power.”16
  • “The Atonement is the final lesson he [man] need learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned, he has no need of salvation.”17
  • (from an article by Warren Smith, posted on Herescope)

By comparing scripture with the claims of A Course In Miracles, one can see immediately that this curriculum must be avoided if one is truly a born-again Bible-believing Christian. This teaching is a “doctrine of demons”, a doctrine that came directly from a demon who Dr. Schucman called “Jesus”.

Another example is “The Secret, The Law of Attraction”. The Secret was originally written by Esther Hicks who channels “Abraham”, a group of spirit guides or “entities”. To harness the power of “the secret”, one must think positively, which changes one’s environment and events positively. A person becomes a magnet for “good things”. So what’s wrong with thinking positively? Nothing, as long as one is “bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (II Corinthians 10:5). What does Jesus Christ have to do with The Secret? Absolutely nothing. Anyone can use the method and be successful, all without Jesus Christ. The Secret also teaches that a person can become One with the universe. If anyone can become a “good”, spiritual person by circumventing the doctrines and teachings of Jesus Christ, then The Secret teachings are unbiblical and heretical. Just the fact that this spirituall process came from demons should keep any Christian away from the material.

Another example is Bob Jones, a prophet from the Elijah List. He has prophecied many times, but his “words from God” do not match scripture. Last year, he prophecied about “green stones with fire” and compared these falling green stones, that fell from the ceiling at a church meeting, to the Holy Spirit. Read the prophecy here. His prophecy is a convoluted, entangled mash of Latter Rain theology, New Age thought, and just plain make-it-up-as-I-go philosophy. His words are supposedly from God. Which god? Where did he get this heretical information? He is getting these “words” from some entity that is NOT the true God of the Bible. Try reading his prophecy and comparing it to scripture — it doesn’t stand a chance.

Just recently, Kim Clement of the Elijah List gave a prophecy regarding Barack Obama. Included in the prophecy is this quote from “God”:

For God said, “Even though you may think this or that, there is an element of righteousness inside of him [Obama] to reach out for Jesus…

That is unscriptural. Our righteousness is but “filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). We are made righteous through Jesus Christ — there is no other Way. Kim Clement’s “god” contradicts the Word of God. Again, comparing the teachings/writings to scripture shows that they fall flat.

In all the examples in this article, one just needs to open a Bible and see that these teachings are heretical and lead one away from God and Jesus Christ. The authors in each of these cases are “channeling” a god, an entity that teaches contrary to scripture — demons that lead people down the broad road to destruction.

Oprah’s Gospel – ‘The Church of Oprah Exposed’ Video

    Posted by susanb99 on April 9, 2008

Here is the real story regarding The Church of Oprah Exposed video, a promotion for the book “Don’t Drink The Koolaid”,  which has been removed from this site.

    From Herescope:
    A Disclaimer
    […]
Recently a link to a YouTube site proclaiming “Oprah’s Church Exposed” was widely disseminated via email and the Internet. We do not know the original source of this viral networking event. This sensationalist-style video referred recipients to a book entitled “Don’t Drink the Kool-Aid: Oprah, Obama and the Occult” authored by a woman by the name of Carrington Steele. We listened to several radio interviews done by Ms. Steele and were shocked to realize there these were being used in a malicious way against the Barack Obama campaign. It appears that this video and book were produced for the purpose of influencing the upcoming presidential elections…. Read More…

    From Lighthouse Trails Blog:
BOOK REVIEW: An Honest Look At “Don’t Drink the Kool-aid”
On March 3rd, a book titled Don’t Drink the Kool-Aid was released by author Carrington Steele. The book, subtitled Oprah, Obama and the Occult, seeks to document Oprah’s ties to the occult and the New Age religion. Since its release, Steele has had several radio interviews, and a promotional video on YouTube has received over two and a half million hits. Steele’s efforts to alert Christians and the public are noteworthy. However, after a thorough examination of this book, Lighthouse Trails must issue a public warning.

Last week, Lighthouse Trails was contacted by two other ministries who brought up issues regarding the use of their material in Steele’s book. Upon reading Steele’s work ourselves, our editors discovered that the 80-page book was filled with verbatim passages copied from other writers material, which was presented as Steele’s own authorship. Because of the sensationalistic overtones of the book (e.g., comparing Oprah to Jim Jones who gave poisoned Kool-aid to over 900 people), and because plagiarism most often ignores the original context and authorial intent of the material copied but is not ethically credited, Lighthouse Trails cannot, in good conscience, promote Steele’s book…. We Are gods

    Posted by susanb99 on April 3, 2008

From the new page on Simplicity In Christ.org

To those who believe that we are gods, I would like to ask one simple question:

Why was Eve deceived by satan when he said “you shall be as gods” if she was ALREADY a god?

    Oprah Interviews a Demon

    Posted by susanb99 on April 2, 2008

On XM Radio last year, Oprah talked to Jerry and Esther Hicks. Esther Hicks channels “Abraham”, a group of demons that gave her the foundational ideas for the Law of Attraction, The Secret.

Oprah and Eckhart Do the New Age Shift – Part 4

    Posted by susanb99 on April 2, 2008

    From Herescope Blog:

    by Warren Smith

“The good old minister went into the room where the swindlers sat before the empty looms. ‘Heaven preserve us!’ he thought, and opened his eyes wide, “I cannot see anything at all,” but he did not say so. Both swindlers requested him to come near, and asked him if he did not admire the exquisite pattern and the beautiful colours, pointing to the empty looms. The poor old minister tried his very best, but he could see nothing, for there was nothing to be seen. ‘Oh dear,’ he thought, ‘can I be so stupid? I should never have thought so, and nobody must know it! Is it possible that I am not fit for my office? No, no, I cannot say that I was unable to see the cloth.”1
    – Hans Christian Andersen
    The Emperor’s New Suit

Tolle and the Queen’s ‘New’ Suit of Clothes

In the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” some swindlers convince the Emperor and his ministers to see a suit of clothes that is actually non-existent. These swindlers convince the Emperor and his ministers by telling them that only “intelligent,” well-informed citizens can see the suit. Publicity about the Emperor’s “new” suit went out unto all the kingdom as people were told what they were supposed to see. The people realized that if they were to be perceived as “smart” and not seem “stupid” they would see this suit of clothes. And, of course, no one wanted to be perceived as stupid. Soon it was publicized throughout the kingdom that the Emperor would be showing off his “new” suit of clothes in a public procession several days hence. When the day came, the naked Emperor walked among his people and received unanimous acclaim for his new suit of clothes. The people saw what they had been told to see. “Isn’t absolutely wonderful,” all the people proclaimed. “The emperor is all dressed up in his new suit of clothes.”Everyone was so taken by the Emperor’s “new” suit of clothes, they barely heard the little boy who hadn’t been told what he was supposed to see. “But the emperor isn’t wearing any clothes,” said the lad. “The emperor is naked.”

Several people heard the boy and realized that what he was saying was true. Suddenly everyone’s eyes were opened and they realized they had been tricked into seeing something that wasn’t even there. The Emperor wasn’t wearing a new suit of clothes. He was as naked as the day that he was born. Swindlers had deceived the Emperor, his ministers, and almost the whole kingdom with their clever scheme.

And so it is with the “New” Age/”New” Spirituality and Oprah Winfrey. Widely regarded as the “Queen” of the airwaves, Oprah has been deceived into seeing a “New” Age/”New” Spirituality “suit of clothes” that simply isn’t there. The Queen’s advisors – Eric Butterworth, Maya Angelou, Marianne Williamson, Gary Zukav, Neale Donald Walsch, Esther Hicks, Eckhart Tolle and countless others have all been similarly deceived into seeing this “new” way of looking at themselves and the world. Deceived and deceiving, they in turn convinced the Queen that she and everyone in her kingdom just needed to “shift” past their “egos” and “awaken” to the fact that they were already clothed in “Christ” – that they were already wearing this “new” suit from the New Age/New Spirituality wardrobe. All they had to do was accept and affirm the “God” and “Christ” within… Read More…
